Background
If you’ve ever played Slay the Spire, you’re probably familiar with the Spire tower and its many mysterious levels. It seemed that after being conquered in the first film, it was completely peaceful, but monsters and supernatural events have returned. Specifically, after 1000 years of slumber, Spire suddenly changes with the appearance of a host of new monsters, and the areas within it have also changed and become much more chaotic.

Gameplay
Slay the Spire 2 retains the core characteristics of the series with its roguelike gameplay combining deck building and turn-based combat. With the familiar Spire tower featuring numerous floors and rooms, your mission is simply to conquer it. However, after 1000 years, the Spire is vastly different from its past, offering many surprises in terms of monsters, structures, and rewards. Now, there are more events to participate in, new cards, and new heroes. Build your deck, choose your path, engage in battles, and win – that’s what you need to do here.
How do you fight in Slay the Spire 2?
The battle in Slay the Spire 2 begins the moment you encounter a monster when choosing your next move. At this point, you’ll fight turn-based with your deck. Specifically, each turn you draw five cards, which can be attack, defense, or effect cards. You can use as many cards as you like, as long as you have enough energy to deploy them.
This is also where strategy is emphasized, with careful energy management and card usage order. Of course, it also depends heavily on the strength of your deck. Note that there’s a boss at the end of each floor of the Spire Tower, and there are several paths to get there. Also, your health won’t regenerate if you’re injured, so be careful and find ways to recover.
Random map
Spire is known for its mysterious towers, and its structure constantly changes. Therefore, each time you fail at Slay the Spire 2 and start over, the map will be altered and completely random. This keeps things fresh each time you explore the floors. Of course, if you’re lucky, you might also encounter a structure with fewer monsters and easier to conquer.
Pay close attention to the map; it has quite a few symbols that you need to be aware of. These symbols are clearly labeled on the map, such as:
- Enemy – common monsters.
- Elite – more powerful, elite monsters.
- Treasure – contains many valuable rewards.
- Merchant – where you use earned gold to trade and buy/sell items.
- Unknown – a mysterious place with many unknown and completely random elements.
- Rest – a place to rest and recover.
Build your deck
According to the developers, we will get to experience at least five characters, including familiar ones like Ironclad, Silent, Defect, and a few new ones like The Necrobinder… Each character possesses a unique starting deck with their own tactics and fighting style. Therefore, deck building during gameplay will be slightly different for each character.
To acquire a more powerful deck, there’s only one way: battle and explore. Defeat monsters to get new cards and gold. Explore Treasure Rooms for surprises, Merchant Rooms to trade cards for gold… If you’re lucky, you might even get rarer cards. Of course, build a deck that suits your style and your chosen character.
